Learn about the history of Living Prints and discover how 20 years of gardening experience and years of expertise in 3D printing come together.
From the age of seven, I was actively involved in vegetable gardening and even officially opened my school's vegetable garden—a moment that made headlines at the time. What began as enthusiasm grew into a lasting passion.
Over the years, I continued gardening intensively. As a teenager, I focused on growing unusual and less common vegetables . This interest grew into a collection of over 700 different vegetable seeds , the plants of which are spread across three greenhouses and a large outdoor plot.
With 20 years of gardening experience, my focus is always on improvement: healthier plants, more efficient methods, and sustainable solutions. I've also experimented extensively with organic techniques to control diseases and pests, such as the cabbage root fly and the Colorado beetle.

Technical expertise and 3D printing
Besides gardening, technology always played an important role.
During seven years of further study, I delved into CAD design, 3D printing , and model making in my spare time, followed by a career as a software developer . This technical background prompted me to make a career switch to to start its own 3D printing service under the name Living Prints with an additional range of self-designed garden products.
3D printing isn't a side hustle here, but a fully-fledged expertise: from design and material selection to functional finishing. This knowledge is applied to both our own products and customized solutions.
We work with professional equipment suitable for every task.
Design and testing in practice
Since June 2025, Living Prints has a spacious garden of 1300m² with:
The garden serves as an active test environment for the products offered. New designs are first manually tested under real-world conditions —in weather, wind, and daily use.
In addition, a FarmBot is used, a system that autonomously cultivates plants and performs monitoring. This allows for controlled and reproducible testing to determine the impact or effectiveness.
This way, products can be further refined in terms of ease of use, durability and reliability.
